I’m Kathleen — mucksavage, mama, librarian, yoga junkie, feral thrifter, face actor, saunterer, and wannabe muse.
Melodious Thoughts is my fort on the internet; built out of both resources I’ve long had on hand, and new material I discover along the way. Like all good forts, it is a continuous work in progress. It is named for a line in my favorite poem, Walt Whitman’s “Song of the Open Road.”
I’m building this place to share stories, reflections, musings both profound and mundane… whatever falls out of my head when I’m walking under trees or winding my way through cities.
I’m building this place here because I’m tired of watching social media enshitify around me; I wanted to build my fort somewhere it won’t be buffeted by algorithms and where visitors are guests, not data points.
Mostly though, I’m building Melodious Thoughts because my mom always wanted me to write a book. I don’t think I can write a book, but I can definitely build a fort.
